Pablo Picasso, the blue acrobat, 1929
people underestimate this painting so much, but this is how i see it.
first time i saw this painting was in my art class alone with my teacher, we were going through art books and this came up, when i first saw this painting i felt like crying, no idea why.. it just made me extremely emotional and got my eyes to tear, my art teacher saw that and decided to explain to me.
the background of this painting holds the story, this was a blue period painting, when Picasso was sad and depressed, im not sure what was it about but i think because he lost the love of his life. if u look closely to the background, u can manage to see a faint line that goes around, u can see two faces kissing up, and then the line leads on and theres no one kissing and he’s left alone, the line shows u how their relationship went, how it was before with her, and then after she left him, the blue acrobat in the middle, you can see his face, and his legs flying up instead of his hands while his hands r down instead of the legs, and that was how he felt, the main picture that presented him and his feelings after he lost his love how fucked up the acrobat looks was how fucked up he felt, he saw him self as a disabled man who his emotions left him looking that way, his legs up and his hands down this is how he felt without her, helpless, and i dont know how i stopped crying after my art teacher explained, you might look at the picture and think it was drawn by a 5 year old kid, but the meaning behind it the emotions it hides in it is unbelievable and its just one of my favorite paintings for him or for any other artist.
